The California Highway Patrol has identified the woman killed in a suspected DUI crash early Tuesday morning as Felicita Lockaton, 36, of Atascadero.
The crash happened at about 12:38 a.m. north of Templeton Road near Atascadero.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Manuel Trejo, Jr., 33, of Atascadero was driving a 2005 Chevrolet when he lost control, causing the truck to overturn.
Lockaton was a passenger in his truck and was ejected and died from her injuries.
According to CHP, Trejo took off after the crash and was later tazed and taken into custody. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and Atascadero police also responded.
Trejo was taken to the hospital with major injuries including a broken femur and internal chest injuries, according to CHP. He was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.
The crash remains under investigation. According to CHP, neither person was wearing a seat belt.
As of Wednesday morning, Trejo was listed in fair condition, according to hospital officials.
